Area Churches of Note
- Tinney Chapel United Methodist Church
- This Winnsboro-area church is known around these parts as The Quintessential Country Church. We're talkin' -- you walk out the front door of the church and gaze right into a beautiful pasture full of grazing cattle. This church community is "quintessential" as country churches go for all sorts of other reasons. The awesome sense of family rooted in tradition. Their propensity for frequent gatherings that involve delicious food. Heck -- they even have their own blogspot. How quintessential is THAT? Lynn and Lindy contributed to the "contemporary" worship scene with this fine group of folks a couple of years back. (Contemporary meaning although we played lots of old hymns and original spiritual songs -- we played them on our guitars!)
If you're visiting the area, this is a great place to "do church" and head back to the city feeling like you really visited the East Texas countryside. Amen!
(take 312 from 515/Coke Road -- next to Brookshires -- just two miles south of town, turn left or east on CR 4620, go around the bend, and Tinney Chapel is at 449 CR 4620) (903) 629-7696

- Located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country an hour-and-a-half or so west of Austin, this festival is THE ideal place to hear MANY of the artists you've come to know and love who've played the Crossroads stage. The annual festival ALWAYS begins on the Thursday prior to Memorial Day, and runs for three weekends and the two weeks in between. Click on the festival name above to go directly to the Kerrville Folk Festival web site. There, you can find all the info you need on the artists playing the festival this year, details about camping on the ranch, news about the Labor Day Weekend wine and music festival, and more! Are you a Kerrvert?!

Click on the festival name above to go directly to T-Roy's web site, then click on Pickin in the Pines for details. What is Pickin' in the Pines? If you ask a musician that question, they will tell you it's "An Acoustic Jam Fest". This is the musically correct explanation. Music fans that attend year in and year out will tell you it's more than that. It could also be called "Pickin', Campin', Vistin', Barbecuin', Story Swappin', Relaxin', Sippin', Strollin', and Listenin' in the Pines. It's a weekend event, so most folks arrive with tents or self-contained camper trailer. Guitar, flute, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, and mandolin are just a few of the instruments to enjoy and sing along with. Bring your own instrument of choice or just come and be a fan. Greenhorn campers enjoy a hot water shower and restroom for the guys and gals. If you can't camp out, you're still welcome to "come and go" just for Friday and/or Saturday night concerts if that is your preference.
